Main Features and Advantages
Controlled regenerative energy dissipation
The Allen-Bradley 1336-MOD-KB010 gives the drive a managed method of disposing of regenerative energy. When the motor returns energy to the drive during deceleration or overhauling, the chopper monitors the DC bus and connects the brake resistor at the appropriate threshold. This prevents bus overvoltage and reduces the likelihood of nuisance drive trips.
Increased braking torque capability
With the brake assembly connected, the Allen-Bradley 1336-MOD-KB010 can increase available braking torque by up to 100%. This allows faster deceleration and more positive stopping control for high-inertia machines that would otherwise coast for an extended period.
Self-contained NEMA Type 1 assembly
The Allen-Bradley 1336-MOD-KB010 is delivered as a complete enclosure with the chopper and resistor pre-installed and pre-wired. The NEMA Type 1, IP20 enclosure protects internal components from dust and accidental contact while simplifying installation in suitable industrial environments.
Suitable for frequent start-stop duty
Designed for 20% typical duty cycle and short-duration full-torque braking, the Allen-Bradley 1336-MOD-KB010 is appropriate for cyclic loads that require repeated acceleration and deceleration. It reduces reliance on friction brakes and helps lower mechanical wear.
Parallel operation for higher ratings
The Allen-Bradley 1336-MOD-KB010 can be operated in parallel with a second module, such as the 1336-MOD-KB050, to achieve a lower equivalent dynamic brake resistance and a higher combined power rating. In such arrangements, one module is configured as the master and the other as a follower.
Bulletin 1336 family compatibility
The Allen-Bradley 1336-MOD-KB010 is designed for use across multiple 1336 platform variants. This broad compatibility makes it a practical spare for plants operating a mix of legacy Bulletin 1336 drives.
