Application Scenarios
In a large-scale gas processing facility in the Russian Arctic, engineers needed to maintain precise propane pressure for an artificial cooling system driving three 90 kW asynchronous motors. The extreme climate—operating temperatures from -40°C to +50°C—demanded drive components capable of reliable performance without frequent maintenance access. The selected solution employed a Control Techniques modular frequency converter system built around the SPMC2402 rectifier feeding two SPMD1403 inverter modules through an INL412 line reactor. The SPMC2402’s built-in soft-start function eliminated the need for external charging contactors, reducing component count and potential failure points in a location where service calls cost thousands of dollars in travel alone. The system has operated continuously, providing uninterrupted cooling capacity even when individual inverter modules require maintenance, thanks to the shared DC bus architecture enabled by the SPMC2402 front-end design .
