The Fireye 95DSS2E-1 is an Enhanced Model (S2) integrated flame scanner from the Fireye InSight Type 95 family. As a microprocessor-based flame detection device, the Fireye 95DSS2E-1 combines solid-state ultraviolet (UV) and infrared (IR) sensors in a single cast aluminum housing, enabling reliable detection of target flame presence or absence in gas, oil, coal, and multi-fuel combustion systems.
The Fireye 95DSS2E-1 is built around the principle of full integration. It incorporates the flame sensor, signal amplifier, flame relay, and fault relay entirely within the scanner enclosure, eliminating the need for a remote flame amplifier. This integrated architecture significantly simplifies Burner Management System (BMS) wiring and cabinet layout while reducing installation costs and potential failure points. The internal flame relay features adjustable ON/OFF thresholds, and the fault relay uses normally-closed contacts wired in series with the flame relay for fail-safe logic.
In terms of signal processing, the Fireye 95DSS2E-1 measures the amplitude of the target flame’s modulation (the flame “flicker”). As the “S2” Enhanced Model, it offers 21 selectable modulation frequencies (23–179 Hz) with AutoTune automatic calibration capability, which automatically selects the optimal modulation frequency and sensor gain while retaining manual override for expert tuning. With NEMA 4X/IP66 protection and an operating temperature range of -40°C to +65°C, the Fireye 95DSS2E-1 is engineered for the most demanding industrial combustion environments.
