Main Features and Advantages
High-side switching for direct sourcing-sensor compatibility: The WAGO 750-401 uses positive-switching inputs, meaning a 24 V potential applied to the input terminal sets that channel to “high”. This input topology aligns directly with the dominant industrial sensor output type — PNP sourcing sensors — so standard inductive proximity switches, photoelectric sensors and Hall-effect detectors connect without interface relays or signal inverters. The thresholds of −3 to +5 VDC for logic “0” and +15 to +30 VDC for logic “1” provide a wide noise margin, preventing the false switching that occurs when long sensor cables run parallel to VFD or motor feeders and pick up induced voltage.
Galvanic isolation at 500 V: The WAGO 750-401 maintains 500 V electrical separation between the field wiring and the internal system bus. This isolation barrier performs two distinct functions: it prevents ground potential differences between distant sensor locations and the control cabinet from degrading signal integrity, and it protects downstream controller electronics from field-side voltage transients. Because the field and system voltages are isolated, modules can be arranged in any combination when configuring the fieldbus node — there is no requirement to group them by potential, which simplifies rack population and makes later expansion straightforward.
0.2 ms response for high-speed signal capture: The defining performance parameter of the WAGO 750-401 is its 0.2 ms digital input filter — roughly fifteen times faster than the 3.0 ms filter used by the 750-400 and 750-430. This matters when the signal being captured is a narrow pulse, such as a bottle passing a photoelectric eye on a high-speed filling line, a registration mark on a web-fed printing press, or a cam pulse from a rotary indexing table. A 3 ms input will simply miss a pulse that is shorter than its own filter time, whereas the WAGO 750-401 captures it cleanly, provided the sensor itself responds quickly enough. The 0.2 ms RC filter still rejects the transient interference that would otherwise cause contact bounce or induced-noise false counts, so the speed does not come at the cost of noise immunity.
CAGE CLAMP® wiring and passive power distribution: All eight input terminals of the WAGO 750-401 use WAGO’s CAGE CLAMP® spring-pressure connection system, which accepts solid or fine-stranded copper conductors from 0.08 to 2.5 mm² without ferrules and requires no retightening after installation. The field supply is distributed through blade-and-spring power jumper contacts that engage automatically when modules sit adjacent on the DIN rail, eliminating daisy-chain wiring errors and reducing installation time in multi-module bus nodes. With three incoming and three outgoing power jumper contacts rated at 10 A, the WAGO 750-401 passes field power along the node without individual supply wiring to each module — though an additional supply module must be inserted if the 10 A limit would be exceeded.
Compact form factor and universal coupler compatibility: At 12 mm wide, 100 mm high and 45.8 g, the WAGO 750-401 occupies minimal panel real estate, allowing dense I/O racks without expanding cabinet footprint. It is compatible with all fieldbus couplers and controllers of the WAGO I/O System 750, including PROFIBUS, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, CANopen, DeviceNet, Modbus and CC-Link variants, so the same module can be specified regardless of the fieldbus chosen for the project.
