The Allen-Bradley 1336-L6/B is a Control Interface L-Option Board for the Bulletin 1336 family of adjustable-frequency AC drives. It is the non-encoder, 115 V AC version of the L-option interface and is fitted to the drive main control board beneath the programming and display board. Its purpose is to let external control devices — pushbuttons, selector switches, limit switches, relay contacts and PLC output modules — issue start, stop, direction, speed-select, reset and other discrete commands to the drive through contact closures, without requiring an intermediate interface relay set for each signal.
The Allen-Bradley 1336-L6/B presents nine control inputs at Terminal Block 3 (TB3). Each input is assigned by programming the drive’s [Input Mode] parameter, so the same nine terminals can be arranged into a variety of control schemes: three-wire momentary pushbutton control, two-wire maintained-switch control, forward/reverse, jog, local control, preset speed selection, accel/decel rate selection and motor potentiometer (MOP) control among them. This programmability is the board’s principal advantage: the wiring layout does not have to be fixed by the hardware, and the input set can be reconfigured through parameter changes rather than rewiring the terminal block.
The board is intended for use with 1336 PLUS, PLUS II, FORCE and IMPACT drives and is listed in the official 1336 documentation among the six L-option variants. Where encoder feedback is required, the correct choice is 1336-L6E, not the Allen-Bradley 1336-L6/B — the L6 version has no encoder interface and cannot be used for closed-loop vector control. The board is conformal-coated for resistance to moisture and chemical contamination and is supplied as a spare rather than as a user-serviceable assembly. For plants that still depend on the 1336 platform, the Allen-Bradley 1336-L6/B is a means of keeping the original drive control scheme intact without redesigning the field wiring or the control cabinet.
