Application Scenarios
A semiconductor fabrication facility operating an AMAT Centura etch tool begins logging repeated “VME bus timeout” and “system initialization failed” events during chamber pumpdown. The process technician has already ruled out backplane and power supply faults, but the tool controller can no longer bring all cards in the cage into a synchronized ready state. A full tool power-down would mean scrapping the lot already in the loadlock. The lead service engineer suspects the 0140-02221 VME reset interface. Swapping the board inside the VME chassis restores deterministic reset behavior: the new 0140-02221 cleanly generates and distributes the SYSRESET* pulse, every processor and I/O card initializes in lockstep, and the tool completes its sequence without another timeout. In a zero-tolerance semiconductor environment, a failed reset interface can freeze an entire VME cage and threaten a wafer lot, while a known-good 0140-02221 restores availability fast.
