Description

Application Scenarios
A packaging machinery builder was commissioning a high-speed rotary filler with four synchronized servo axes. The original drives were undersized for the intermittent duty profile — they tripped on acceleration peaks during the indexing stroke, and the resulting crashes forced operators to reduce machine speed by nearly 20 %. The engineering team needed a drive that could handle brief acceleration peaks without requiring a much larger continuous-rated amplifier. They selected the DST1405 because its 8.0 Arms continuous / 24.0 Arms peak rating (three times overload) matched the pulse-duty profile exactly. The drives were commissioned with the built-in high-resolution analogue input and a rotary encoder, and the machine returned to its design speed with no further overload trips.
In a second case, a metal-stamping press feed was running with an aging analog servo amplifier that could no longer hold repeatable position at high cycling rates. The maintenance team installed a DST1405 in the existing panel using its compact footprint and DIN-rail/panel mounting options. The drive’s 1 µs freeze input and 160 Hz speed-loop bandwidth let the press synchronize material feed to the stamping stroke, and the two universal option slots were used to add fieldbus communication without expanding the cabinet. Scrap dropped materially, and the maintenance log showed a sharp decline in feed-related stoppages.
